What a night!

So not much could happen in a 4 hour period right? Oh, so wrong. The night began with laziness, from the seniors anyway. After waking up at 5am to cook for the bacon fry there wasn't anything we wanted to do but lay down. So we did; we laid on the field for an hour until it was time to get down to business, and this is when the fun began. There was going to be a lot of first and lasts happening tonight. It was the first game, Caroline and Amy would be working on our first sound slide (which put us down 2 seniors), it was the first time the newbies were shooting football, it was the seniors last Texas Arkansas game and possibly the last Texas Arkansas game ever. Therefore, the pressure was on. It began like normal, a lot of scrabbling to get into position, making sure the newbies knew what was even going on, and a lot of frustration from the seniors because we were so out of practice. After having my fun with the BigMa in the first half, I faced reality and knew that my time and skills would be better spent shooting sideline action. So, I pranced positive self over to Smith and asked to borrow his wide angle cause I had some pretty nifty photo ideas. Thus became the pictures above. The top was shot when they were running out for half time. This was not my first time in the tunnel, but it was the first time I had the courage to sit down whilst in the tunnel, and Im quite happy with the image that was produced. The bottom one was one I had thought of earlier that week when Smith was explaining how to shoot football to the newbies. He was reminding them that the stuff on the sidelines was just as important as the football itself, especially coach/player interaction. Then I had an epiphany and thus came the picture! It required quite a bit of waiting and a few mess ups but i finally got it right. This is when the night went down hill. I was all excited about my pictures and was rushing to go take my card to the press box so my picture could on the online newspaper. I set my camera on top of my bag took a few bouncy strides only to stop in my tracks when I heard the bone chilling sound of your precious camera attached to your teachers favorite lens hitting the concrete. I turned around and saw the beautiful lens split open. Immediately I began to panic, like having a serious panic attack. The rest of the game is a bit of a blur, but everything turn out well and I learned an incredibly valuble lesson the hard way. When your're not using your camera PUT IT IN THE BAG and make sure THE BAG IS CLOSED.
